PRE-KINDERGARTEN - 4 YEAR OLDS
St. Martin’s Day School recognizes that each child is unique and learns best in a nurturing, stress-free setting which promotes the growth of the whole child. Children are allowed to explore their environment indoors and out. Readiness skills in language, math, science, and social studies are developed through music, art, play, social interaction, and a variety of creatively planned, age appropriate activities.

Pre-K introduces readiness skills to children through a theme/play-based curriculum. Our experienced teachers are degreed and nurturing and create an environment that encourages independence and allows children to explore their feelings and fosters appropriate social behavior. Kindness to others, manners, and friendships are encouraged at this age level.

• Class size limited to 22 children with two degreed teachers
• Large spacious classroom with up-to-date furnishings and equipment
• “Geo safari,” sand table, water table, listening center, art center, dramatic play area, block center, puppet theatre, a large selection of math and language manipulatives, and a computer for enrichment
• The language arts program, “Letter People”, introduces letter recognition, letter sounds, experience stories, reading readiness skills, webbing, correct letter formation, listening skills and following directions.
• The hands-on math program, “Everyday Math” (a University of Chicago School Mathmatics Project), introduces numbers recognition and concept of numbers, 1-1 number correspondence, problem solving, and rote counting 1-10.
• Art: directed and non-directed to encourage creativity, cutting, tracing, painting and other fine motor skills
• Units of study in science and social studies 
• Builds self-esteem and self confidence
• Large and small group activities
• Directed and free choice centers
• Develops gross and small motor skills indoors and outdoors
• A safe, completely fenced playground, which includes swings, slides, climbing equipment, sandbox, teeter totters, balance beam and bike path for riding scooters, trikes and big wheels, etc.
• Outside play daily-weather permitting
• Weekly reader for 5-Day pre-k
• Weekly chapel – values reinforced throughout the school
• Teachers for physical education (5-Day classes only) and music
• Super Day - opportunity to enroll in an extended day enrichment program on Mondays (AM Class 11:30am - 2:00pm) or Wednesdays (PM Class 10:00am - 12:30pm) $20.00 per session
